Why Bother Growing Your Own?

The best food you'll ever eat
is growing in your backyard

You don't need to be a serious gardener. You don't need a big yard. You just need a good bed and a bit of soil — and the results will change how you eat.

🍅
Tastes like food should
Grocery store tomatoes are picked green and gassed red in a truck. Yours get picked warm, ripe, and eaten the same day. It's a completely different food.
💰
Pays for itself in one season
A single 4x8 bed can grow $200+ worth of tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and herbs in one summer. The bed lasts decades. The math is obvious.
🌿
You control what's on it
No pesticides, no wax coating, no wondering where it came from. Your food, grown by you, in soil you chose. Simple.
⏱️
10 minutes a day. That's it.
A raised bed is the low-maintenance version of a garden. No tilling, no weeding a huge plot. Water it, watch it grow. Even beginners get results the first season.

Sound familiar?

If you've gardened for more than two seasons, you've probably been burned. Here's what most people deal with before they find GrowBoxx:

Wood that rotted in 3 yearsYou treated it, sealed it, babied it. It rotted anyway — especially at the base where water seeps between boards into the screw holes.
Metal beds that rusted outLooked great the first summer. By year two, rust streaks on your patio and soil leaking through failing seams.
Beds that bowed in the middlePacked in the soil, watered it — and watched the sides slowly push out. Internal struts bent, then corroded, then became useless.
Plastic that cracked in the coldOne freeze-thaw cycle and you've got a cracked plastic trough in your yard. Classic BC/Alberta problem.
Support bars taking up planting spaceCompetitors need internal struts to stop their beds bowing. Those struts rust, get in the way, and eat into your growing area.
Replacing them every 4–5 yearsThe cost adds up fast. You've probably spent enough on temporary beds to have bought something permanent twice over.
GrowBoxx raised garden beds — Black, Silver, and Espresso trim
Available in Black, Silver, and Espresso trim  ·  100% Canadian-made galvanized steel

There's a reason contractors build with galvanized steel.
It's because it lasts forever.

GrowBoxx took industrial-grade galvanized steel — 1mm thick (20 gauge), hot-dipped — and built a raised garden bed out of it. Priced for homeowners. Built for a lifetime. And it grows better food, faster.

🔩

Indestructible by design

Fertilizers, pesticides, water, UV, freeze-thaw — none of it touches the structural integrity. A 4' x 16' bed needs zero internal support bars. So strong you can stand on the side and it won't bow. Nothing like anything else on the market.

🌱

Better soil = better harvests

Full control over your soil composition. Pack in rich compost and nutrients without worrying about drainage failure or bed collapse. Better structure means more yield per square foot — every single season.

🦵

Garden without wrecking your back

The 26.5" tall option means planting, weeding, and harvesting at a comfortable standing height. No kneeling in wet dirt. No crawling around. Just gardening — the way it should feel.

🪲

Natural pest and disease barrier

Elevated planting dramatically reduces soil-borne diseases and ground-dwelling pests. Better drainage prevents root rot. Your plants start with a head start before a single seed goes in.

💧

Superior drainage, less watering

The open-bottom design combined with the raised structure means excess water drains freely — no waterlogging, no compaction. You'll water less and get better results than ground-level planting.

💰

Buy once. Never again.

The average gardener replaces cheap beds every 4–5 years. GrowBoxx is built to last 20+ years. Do the math — the premium pays for itself well before your second replacement cycle. Then it's all gravy.

The growing season secret:
Steel beds grow food faster.

Here's what most gardeners don't realize: galvanized steel absorbs and retains heat from the sun during the day, then radiates it into the soil at night. In BC and Alberta, that means your soil stays warmer for longer — which means plants root faster, germinate earlier, and produce more. You're effectively extending your growing season at both ends of the calendar without doing a single extra thing.

Expected lifespan of every GrowBoxx bed — per the Dekker family

A family from Chilliwack who got tired of replacing garden beds every few years.

The Dekker family grew up in Chilliwack, BC — right in the heart of the Fraser Valley farming community. Their family has been part of the area's old-school farming culture for generations. They know how to grow food that's healthy, nutritious, and actually tastes like something.

Like most gardeners, they'd been through the cycle: buy a wood bed, watch it rot in three years, replace it. Buy a metal bed, watch it rust at the seams. They kept asking the same question: why is no one building these things to actually last?

So they built one themselves. They took industrial-grade galvanized steel — the same material used on commercial construction sites — and turned it into a raised garden bed. No internal support bars. No compromises on thickness. Just a bed that was genuinely bulletproof.

Word spread fast. For years, GrowBoxx grew entirely through word of mouth — neighbours telling neighbours, farmers recommending them to families. Hundreds of local families bought in before GrowBoxx ever went online. Now they're bringing that same product across BC — and one of the Dekker family is personally driving the Vancouver Island delivery run this spring.

What GrowBoxx owners are saying

Real reviews from Google ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

★★★★★

"I struggled for years with pressure-treated garden beds until I discovered Growboxx, which completely revolutionized my raised bed gardening. None of the other metal raised bed systems on the market match the quality. I now have 18 beds, ranging from 4x4 and 6x2 for my hot peppers to a massive 16x4. The quality, value, and craftsmanship are outstanding. My only regret is that now I'll never want to sell my house!"

"Very happy with my choice. Jake in Chilliwack made my life much easier — custom lengths, delivered to assemble myself. After the first one, the rest went together much faster regardless of size. Strong, sturdy, not too difficult to move once built. As a first time gardener to raised beds, I was pleasantly surprised growing more produce than expected. Highly recommended by this long-time gardener."

"Outstanding customer service. I reached out on Facebook and their representative responded quickly and replied to all my questions. Fast delivery even though I was quite far from Chilliwack. The raised beds are made of very sturdy galvanized steel — it doesn't look like a thin flimsy sheet, it really comes across as something fairly priced and well made. I wish every company conducted their business like these people do."

"Support this great local company!! I ordered 2 boxes for my mom. They responded quickly, were great with communication for pick up and even accommodated me with putting them together when I picked them up. My Mom can't wait to plant vegetables! Thanks again!"

Hot-dipped galvanized steel — water beads right off
Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel

Water beads right off. Fertilizer can't touch it. This is what 25 years looks like.

1mm thick (20 gauge) galvanized steel — the same spec used in commercial construction. Zero seam gaps, zero rust points, zero failure modes.

Expected lifespan of every GrowBoxx

A cheap wood bed lasts 3–7 years. A cheap metal bed maybe 5. A GrowBoxx is expected to outlast your garden — and potentially the people who plant in it. Built once, passed down. That's what buying Canadian-made actually means.

Fair questions, straight answers

Is galvanized steel safe for growing vegetables?
Yes. Galvanized steel is widely used in food production and processing environments globally. The zinc coating is chemically stable and doesn't leach into soil at levels that affect plant or human health. It's been used safely in agriculture for decades.
Won't the steel get too hot and cook my roots in summer?
This is the most common question — and the answer surprises most people. Galvanized steel is actually reflective, so it doesn't absorb heat the way dark materials do. The soil mass insulates the roots. In BC and Alberta summers, GrowBoxx owners consistently report no heat issues. Mulching the top layer adds extra insurance on the hottest days.
Isn't it more expensive than wood?
Upfront, marginally. But a cedar bed rots out in 3–7 years. GrowBoxx is built to last 20+ years. When you run the 15-year math — including 2-3 wood bed replacements, your time, and the hassle of starting over — GrowBoxx is cheaper. By a meaningful margin.
How hard is it to put together?
Panel-and-corner system — only tool required is a 1/2" (13mm) deep socket with a ratchet, impact driver, or drill. Most beds go together in under 30 minutes. Or add assembly for $35/bed and Jake builds it on site when he delivers — you don't touch a tool.
Can it add value to my property?
Yes — and this one surprises people. Because GrowBoxx beds are permanent, high-quality infrastructure (not a temporary wood box), they can genuinely add aesthetic and functional value to your property. Prospective buyers notice well-built gardens.
